The WildLab would like to thank you for using the WildLab Pro. Over the last year, with support from the MacArthur Foundation, over 500 students have used the WildLab as part of their regular science curriculum, logging thousands of bird sightings.
To introduce them to bird identification, we created an application called the WildLab Edu, in which learners identify habitat, shape, and call/range to get to a list of potential species; otherwise, users can enter sightings of any North American species directly using "quick entry". We encourage you to download it and try it out--it is available for free. It includes the functionality of the WildLab Pro, but also includes photos and audio on 108 selected bird species. If you joined thewildlab.com before the end of May, you can use the same username and password to sign in to the http://thewildlab.org Web site and the iphone application.
We would like to transition our current users to this application in order to rationalize our development going forward. Please let us know what features you would like to see in the free application and in the http://thewildlab.org Web site. We will complete the transition by July 2010, so we hope you'll let us know what you think. The current http://thewildlab.com Web site will be integrated with http://thewildlab.org site as well. Please use our feedback tab on http://thewildlab.org to post comments and feedback.
Best wishes and happy birding,
The WildLab Team
